BIOGRAPHY: All-Conference selection as a senior after moving into the starting lineup and posting career numbers of 106/9.5/2.5. Totaled 26 tackles as a junior after 36 during his sophomore campaign.
POSITIVES: Athletic outside linebacker coming off a terrific senior campaign. Breaks down well, slides off blocks and fluid scraping to the sidelines. Quickly changes direction, has the speed to cut off the corners and covers a lot of area on the field. Gets depth on pass drops and shows ability in coverage.
NEGATIVES: More of a chase and pursue linebacker rather than a defender who forces the action. Not a tough or physical defender. Performed poorly in the post-season displaying an apathetic attitude towards his NFL career.
ANALYSIS: James displayed terrific skill as a senior and turned himself into a draftable prospect based on his play. His attitude in the post season and unwillingness to work turned a number of scouts and teams off. James is unlikely to be selected at any time during seven rounds yet could back up on the strong-side if he decides to make football a priority.
