BIOGRAPHY: Three-year starter also saw extensive action with the first team as a freshman. Passing totals last season included 58.5%/3063/15/8. Also led the team in rushing posting 135/408/11. Sophomore-year totals included 2663 passing yards with 19 touchdowns. Missed six games with a thumb injury as a junior.

POSITIVES: Well-sized pocket-passer with poor accuracy. Poised, displays a nice sense of what's happening on the field, and shows good awareness in the pocket. Senses pressure and buys as much time as possible for receivers. Savvy, effectively leads the offense, and does not get rattled under pressure. Possesses the arm strength to get passes downfield, puts touch on throws when necessary, and delivers the ball with good timing.

NEGATIVES: Sprays the ball and constantly has receivers adjusting to errant passes. Puts the ball into coverage.

ANALYSIS: O'Connell is a terrific college quarterback with solid physical skills. His woeful accuracy and poor placement will make it difficult for him to ever leave a practice squad.
